Lew Lipset’s “Collecting Jackie Robinson” from the June 1984 issue of Baseball Cards Magazine is a classic look at the hobby’s appreciation for one of the game’s greatest icons. And there’s a lot more to collect than his 1949 and 1950 Bowman or 1952–1956 Topps cards, no matter how hot they’ve become lately. Few hobby writers had a better grasp of baseball history than Lipset, and this piece remains one of his finest explorations of a legendary player’s hobby legacy.
