A Rare Look at the 1933 Sea Raiders Uncut Sheets: From the 1995 NSCC Auction to Today’s Market

While flipping through the 1995 National Sports Collectors Conference Auction catalog, a lot for a complete pair of Sea Raiders uncut sheets stood out to me. It caught my attention because I had highlighted the set’s key card, #45 Pirate’s Legacy (the map card), in Newsletter #9.

The NSCC catalog described the pair as all 48 cards in full color, including the biographical backs. The low-numbered sheet (cards 1–24) was noted as remarkably clean and pristine. The high-numbered sheet, printed in Canada, showed slight toning, faint creasing, and minimal wear.

After seeing this, I searched for related sales. REA sold a low-series sheet for $4,444 in spring 2013.

More notably, Heritage sold a framed pair in October 2024 for $10,200. Based on the descriptions, an American-printed low series (R124) sheet and a Canadian-printed high series (V359) sheet, the Heritage pair may have been the same one originally offered in the 1995 NSCC auction.
