1961 Kahn’s Wieners Basketball Overview
Unlike the 1957, 1958, 1959, or 1960 Kahn’s basketball sets, the 1961 release was the first to include the Cincinnati Royal’s coach, Charley Wolf. Kahn’s included Jerry West again as well.
Like previous releases, the fronts have black and white player photos, a facsimile autograph, and Kahn’s Slogan “The Wiener the World Awaited.”
The backs are unnumbered, but this year, rather than including a biography or any statistics, they are blank.
One card was issued with each package of Kahn’s meats.

PSA has graded 241 of these cards (pretty equally distributed across the entire range of grades), with SGC adding 24.
Despite there being so few copies, a complete set of SGC-graded cards did sell once before when, in the Spring of 2009, REA sold them for $11,163. They also sold a near-set of 12 PSA-graded cards for $2,760 in the Spring of 2025.
Like the previous year’s set, the set’s two key cards are Oscar Robertson and Jerry West, though they are about half the price of the 1960 Kahn’s cards.
