The 1991 Classic Basketball Draft Picks set featured many of the top players from the 1991 NBA Draft, led by Larry Johnson and Dikembe Mutombo.
Classic marketed the Premier Edition as a limited set, but “limited” was relative during the junk-wax era: 450,000 sets were produced. This 1991 advertisement takes me right back to when we all wanted that Larry Johnson card and thought it was going to be worth a million bucks.

That 450,000-set production figure is a pretty good illustration of what “limited edition” could mean during the early 1990s. Not exactly a limited production, eh?
