I first wrote about the 1954 Alaga Syrup Willie Mays Postcard in a piece here on the blog titled Baseball For Breakfast: The 1954 ALAGA Syrup Willie Mays Postcard. Then, in October 2025, I noticed that Heritage was offering one in their 2025 Winter Sports Catalog Auction, so I highlighted and previewed it in Newsletter #95. Finally, a collector was researching the postcard and came across this site, and the newsletter, and he shared that he owned the signed copy that I highlighted in Newsletter #162. So, it seemed appropriate to archive all the known copies here, in hopes that others will surface and the hobby can learn more about these awesome collectibles.
First, here’s a link to the Pop Report page for the postcard. As of late December 2025, there are two PSA Authentic copies (pictured below) and a new signed copy with an authentic grade that I haven’t seen yet, so please reach out if it pops up for sale somewhere!
PSA Authentic – Cert # 72296829
This graded copy currently resides in the currently #1-ranked Willie Mays Master Set on the registry.

However, it was previously sold, raw, by Huggins & Scott for $1,793 in February 2016.

PSA Authentic – Cert # 122381770
Heritage sold this copy for $14,030 on December 19, 2025.

Raw – Secretarially Signed
Huggins & Scott sold this copy, with three Willie Mays secretarial signatures, for $1,968 in February 2020.

Raw – TCDB
This raw copy, with a blank back, is the copy on The Trading Card Database.

Raw – Signed
This is the copy I mentioned in the introduction. The owner hasn’t had it slabbed because he doesn’t want it leaving his possession, but he did have the autograph authenticated by JSA.

Please reach out if you know of any other copies, or if you run across that PSA/DNA slabbed copy.
Happy collecting!
