Flipping through Mastro’s April 2007 catalog, I came across this neat little collection of 1960/61 Wonder Bread hockey items.

The four 2-3/4-inch square paper labels, issued in pairs with Wonder Bread products, feature Gordie Howe, Bobby Hull, Dave Keon and Maurice “Rocket” Richard.
But the labels weren’t really the prize.
Also included was a scarce 5-by-6-3/4-inch advertising sheet inviting youngsters to join the Wonder Sports Club. Members received a membership card and 4-inch club crest, could enter to win a trip to a Stanley Cup game, and had access to a catalog offering discounted sporting equipment.
Membership included one of four 5-by-7-inch Wonder Bread hockey photo premiums. Those rarely seen premiums are the key pieces to this little niche, and there aren’t usually many to choose from on eBay.
Here’s what Gordie Howe’s premium looks like:

Happy collecting!
