I’ve referenced The Sports Collectors Bible so many times over the years that I was glad to find a short piece by Bert Sugar titled “The Making of The Sports Collectors Bible” in the premiere issue of Collectors Quarterly (Winter 1975).
It’s a brief look back at the book’s origins, with some history and a number of acknowledgments to those involved in its creation. More than anything, it reads as a thank-you to a hobby that was still taking shape at the time—a kind of final tribute to its early growth and spirit.
