A couple of weeks ago, I shared a photo of the Spring 2007 (Vol. 3, Issue 2) issue of SGC Collector Magazine, asking if folks knew the magazine had existed and highlighting its feature on the legendary Lionel Carter Collection, which Mastro Auctions offered in April 2007.

So, I figured I’d share the complete article here.

There are plenty of stories out there about Mastro’s dealings with Carter, along with questions surrounding whether some cards from the collection had been trimmed, but that’s not what this post is about. I simply want to preserve and share this contemporary look at one of the hobby’s most remarkable collections.

Eventually, I’ll share photos of every lot from the actual Mastro auction catalog, but considering the Carter Collection takes up more than 40 pages—pages 468 through 510—I thought that might be a little much for today!
