Mr. Mint: Alan Rosen is the King of Cards, the Duke of Dough, in the High-Stakes Baseball Card Game

In the July 4, 1988 issue of Sports Illustrated, Dan Geringer profiled Alan “Mr. Mint” Rosen as the junk wax era’s baseball card boom was rapidly accelerating. Already the hobby’s most recognizable figure, Rosen’s larger-than-life presence extended far beyond card shows and into mainstream media and pop culture. Given the piece’s influence and how often it’s been referenced since, I wanted to scan and share it here as a lasting hobby resource.
