Airbrushed cards: some love them, but most laugh at them. They’re among the most shared and joked-about cards on social media. So I wanted to highlight one of the best articles ever written on the topic: Jeff Ziegler’s Airbrushes from the September 1987 issue of Baseball Cards Magazine. From 1957 to 1985, every Topps set had at least two of these painted oddities. This piece dives deep into why they exist—and why they look the way they do.
