1934–36 National Chicle Diamond Stars Baseball Cards: Cataloging the Original Artwork

Back in June, I wrote an article sharing that the Original Diamond Stars Artwork for Mel Ott and Jimmie Foxx were headed to Huggins & Scott’s Summer Auction. A few months earlier, Huggins & Scott sold Charlie Gehringer’s original artwork, too. That sent me down a rabbit hole. Here’s all the original artwork used for the 1934-36 National Chicle Diamond Stars set (R327) that I could find.

Heritage sold the original artwork for Rogers Hornby’s & Jim Bottomley’s unissued card in May 2012 for $5,138.50.

As you can see, my archive is missing a ton of them, though many auction descriptions have written that only around 30 baseball artworks were discovered in the late ’70s. Please let me know if you’ve seen any of the others, and happy collecting!
