Cataloging Wayne Gretzky’s NHL Debut Ticket Stubs

In The Post War Cards Newsletter #57, I shared that Heritage was offering the highest-graded Wayne Gretzky NHL debut ticket, a PSA 9, for sale. It’s a significant piece of sport memorabilia, and given that there aren’t a million of them out there, I figured I’d do something like I did for signed 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle cards and see how many I could track down.

First, here’s a re-creation of the Pop Report table for the PSA-Graded October 10th, 1979, Chicago Blackhawks vs. Edmonton Oilers Wayne Gretzky NHL Debut tickets (current as of August 30, 2025).

There are also three tickets in the PSA/DNA Certified Tab: a PSA 2, a PSA 4 with a qualifier, and a PSA 5 with a qualifier.

P.S. You can see on the ticket that the Blackhawks won 4-2. But only the Beckett copy shares that Gretzky recorded one assist.
