1983 Canadian National Juniors Overview
The 1983 Canadian National Juniors Hockey card set has 21 unnumbered, larger than standard-sized cards of the best Canadian hockey players chosen for the 1983 World Junior Hockey Championships (held in the Soviet Union).
The fronts have a red border with a player photograph against a blue background. The players’ name is in black, with all-capital text in the lower left of the photo. The upper right corner, within the cut-off style border, has the Team Canada emblem/logo.
The 21-card set includes the checklist and National Team Emblem card shown on the uncut sheet below.
The cards have blank backs.
The following three items can be seen on the uncut sheet as well but aren’t necessary to have a “complete” set:
- Team Photo 1 – 5″ by 10 1/4″ – All players and coaches (except Marc Habscheid)
- Team Photo 2 – 7 1/4″ by 10 1/4″ – 1982 Team card
- Team Celebration – 5″ by 7 1/4″ – Troy Murray holding the championship plate

1983 Canadian National Juniors Examples And Sales
The sheet pictured above has been available on eBay for a few years. Today (September 2025) it’s listed for $8,300 but the seller is offering it for 20% off or $6,640.
Heritage sold the following unopened set for $198 in October 2020.
PSA has graded 339 of these cards with most being 8s and 9s. The majority of those are Lemieux (143) and Yzerman (111).
Here are a few examples of high-grade individual card sales from the set:

1983 Canadian National Juniors Key Cards
As you can see on the uncut sheet, the cards were equally distributed, but the Mario Lemieux and Steve Yzerman cards have the highest demand.
