1969 NBAP Members Overview
The unnumbered circa 1969 NBA Players Association Members cards feature a black-and-white photo of the players either in action or posing with a blank background. The fronts of the cards have light blue borders with the player’s name and “N.B.A.P. MEMBER” printed on the bottom. The banks are blank. As a players’ association set, they weren’t licensed by the NBA, so logos were airbrushed off.
The cards may have come out a few years later than 1969 because the set includes a Kareem Abdul Jabbar card, and he only changed his name from Lew Alcindor after the 1971 NBA Finals.

Collectors long believed the cards to have been issued on a box of basketball shoes, possibly Converse. But more recently, the following images surfaced of the cards printed on the sides of a box for a basketball by a toy company from the Los Angeles area.
