I ran across this 1959 Kahn’s Wieners Bobby Layne store advertising sign in Mastro’s December 2007 auction catalog.

Here’s how they described it:
This very scarce, glossy-paper poster promotes the black-and-white photo insert cards released by Kahn’s (makers of ‘The Wiener the World Awaited’) in its hot dog packages. Hall of Famer Bobby Layne’s image-which dominates the piece’s design-pro-vides visible insight with respect to the featured series’ star-filled character. The poster measures about 10-1/2″ x 16″ and carries distribution faults (center fold and peripheral wear) consistent with one-time mailing to a retailer; minimally Excellent overall appearance. Matted and framed to 16-1/2″ x 22″ dimensions. (A couple of nicks in the poster’s modern-style, decorative frame are noted for accuracy in description.)
Lelands later resold what appears to be the exact same piece, along with two other Kahn’s football items, in March 2017 for $726. However, they described the poster as promoting the 1962 Kahn’s Wieners football set.
Gorgeous paper poster features Bobby Layne of the Pittsburgh Steelers promoting the highly desired 1962 Kahn’s Weiners football card set. Nicely framed to 16.5×22″, the poster itself is 11×16″ and condition appears NRMT.

That date doesn’t line up.
The image of Layne on the poster matches his 1959 Kahn’s Wieners card, which strongly suggests Mastro had the dating right.

Layne did have a 1962 Kahn’s card as well, but that image matches one of the other advertising pieces in the Lelands lot—not this poster.

A small detail, but an important one when it comes to correctly tying these regional issues to their original promotional materials.
Happy collecting!
P.S. For completeness, Bobby Layne also appears in the 1961 Kahn’s Wieners set.
