Here’s a cool one: the original artwork used to produce Bob Guindon’s image on the 1965 Topps #509 Red Sox Rookie Stars card.

These hand-colored photographic prints were used during Topps’ production process, and each is a true one-of-one; surviving examples of any kind are rare and tough to come by. This particular piece would make a stunning display next to the card it helped create.
That card, #509 in the 1965 Topps set, features both Bob Guindon and Gerry Vezendy. It’s not especially popular, neither player had a notable pro career, but it holds importance for Red Sox rookie collectors.

The real dream? Discovering the flexichrome art for Vezendy too. That would complete the story and one incredible display.
Fun fact: only one PSA 10 copy of this card exists. It sold for $570 in 2011, $3,000 in 2019, and then flipped again for $4,200 in 2021 via Heritage.

Happy collecting!
