I wrote about the Golden Age of Topps Baseball Checklists to kick off this series defining checklist groups and eras. Next up is a group of four checklists I call the Psychedelic Era: the two 1967 Topps Hockey checklists and the two 1967 Topps Football checklists.
Whenever I look at these cards, they instantly evoke the late 1960s. Even though I wasn’t around yet, the bold colors and playful typography feel perfectly in step with the era. As American culture embraced new ideas, changing fashions, and a more experimental aesthetic, graphic design followed suit. Bright color palettes, high contrast, and eye-catching layouts became increasingly common. We never got a truly psychedelic Topps set, but these four 1967 hockey and football checklists capture much of that same creative energy.
Here are a few details on their PSA populations and recent sales.
1967 Topps Hockey Checklists
The rainbow “CHECKLIST” is one of the most distinctive treatments Topps ever produced, giving the cards a playful, poster-like feel that perfectly matches the colorful late-1960s aesthetic.
The 1967 Topps Hockey Checklist card #66 has a total PSA-graded population of 205 (up from 155 in October 2022) with a single PSA 10, ten PSA 9, and 53 PSA 8 examples.
The last PSA 9 sale according to Card Ladder was for $3,000 back in July 2021. And the last PSA 8 sale was for $549 in June 2025.
The 1967 Topps Hockey Checklist card #120 has a total PSA-graded population of 211 (up from 163 in October 2022) with a single PSA 10, 17 PSA 9, and 50 PSA 8 examples.
The last PSA 9 sale was for $1,336 back in October 2025. And the last PSA 8 sale was $700 in March 2026.
1967 Topps Football Checklists
The warped bubble lettering and hot pink background feel more like a psychedelic concert poster than a traditional checklist, making these some of the most recognizable football checklists Topps ever issued. They’re also a little more common than their hockey counterparts.
The 1967 Topps Football Checklist card #59 has a total PSA-graded population of 329 (up from 230 in October 2022) without a single PSA 10, 24 PSA 9, and 100 PSA 8 examples.
The last PSA 9 sale was for $317 back in June 2026. And the last PSA 8 sale was for $114 in November 2025.
The 1967 Topps Football Checklist card #132 has a total PSA-graded population of 291 (up from 202 in October 2022), also without a single PSA 10, 12 PSA 9, and 54 PSA 8 examples.
The last PSA 9 sale was for $715 in January 2025 and the last PSA 8 sold for $287 in June 2026.
Although the Hockey and Football designs are completely different, they share the same philosophy. Rather than treating checklists as an afterthought, Topps gave them bold typography, vibrant colors, and unique layouts that made them memorable cards in their own right.

P.S. When I began researching this series, I considered including the 1971 Topps Hockey and 1972 Topps Basketball ABA checklists in this group. Ultimately, they didn’t feel like a perfect fit, so they’ll likely appear in a future group.
P.P.S. Collectively, the Psychedelic era consists of just four checklists, yet only two PSA 10s have been graded across the entire group, both belonging to the Hockey issue.
