Overview

The 1989 Topps Cap’n Crunch set came via each specially marked Cap’n Crunch cereal boxes.

Each box had two cards wrapped in cellophane with a piece of gum.

The fronts have basic player photographs (head and shoulders) with a red and blue inner border within a white frame. Topps printed Cap’n Crunch Cereal’s logo, the player’s uniform number, and their own logo across the top of the card, and the player’s name, position, and team name across the bottom of the card.

Topps airbrushed out the team logos, as it looks like licensing came from the MLB Player’s Association (logo on the back), not the league itself, to print the set.

The backs are horizontal and feature typical biographical information and statistics. The Cap’n Crunch and Topps logos are also on the back, along with the card number.
