Year: 1989
Title: Minnesota Timberwolves Burger King
Size: 2 1/2” by 3 1/2”
Number in Set: 7
Overview
This seven card set was sponsored by Burger King to celebrate the Timberwolves first season, but funny enough, the cards don’t have a Burger King logo on them!
However, the cards were issued with a 9” by 12” pamphlet (a Player Cards Collectors Set) which, on the inside, featured the team’s 1989-90 schedule on one side, and slots to hold the cards on the other. Beneath the schedule are the words “Courtesy of Burger King.”

The card fronts feature color action player photos with a blue border on white card stock. The top of the card has a banner that says “Inaugural Season” with the team name above the banner and the team logo in the middle. The player’s name is under his picture.
The backs feature typical biographical and statistical information and a note that they were produced by NBAHOOPS. The crds are unnumbered.
Here’s another example of the Player Cards Collector Set open to the schedule and card section – this collector only tracked down five of the cards and included a Doug West card from another release.

Key Cards
This is a very inexpensive set, but guides tend to list Pooh Richardson as the set’s priciest card. Supposedly Brad Lohaus was pulled from the set and replaced by Randy Breuer during the promotion. You can see there are only six card slots in the pamphlet but the checklist below features seven players.
