1979 Open Pantry / Lake-to-Lake Multi-Sport Overview
The 12-card unnumbered set was issued to benefit the Milwaukee Athletes Against Childhood Cancer (MACC) fund. Open Pantry Food Mart and Lake to Lake Dairy partnered to produce the set with the backs of the cards stating that Open Pantry would donate 10c to the MACC fund for every gallon of Lake to Lake milk that was sold in their stores during February and March 1979 trying to raise $10k.
The cards feature five players from the Milwaukee Brewers baseball team, five from the Milwaukee Bucks basketball team, and two Green Bay Packers football players. The fronts have a black and white player photo, a facsimile autograph, and a team logo. The backs are all the same but for the player’s name and feature a message about the MACC fund with the fundraising goal.
