Overview

The 1979 Kansas City Chiefs Police set was the first of several annual sets produced to promote safety and law enforcement in the community. It was a collaborative effort between Hardee’s fast-food restaurants, the Kansas City Chiefs football team, and the Kansas City Police Department. The Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Rams, and Seattle Seahawks released similar police sets in 1979.

The front of the cards feature a photograph of the player, some depicting the player in action, with the photographer’s credit below it. The player’s vital information (uniform number, name, position, height, weight, and team) is also included on the front, along with a small Chiefs helmet logo.

The back of the cards showcases a football term and provides a related safety or legal tip in a section called “Chiefs Tips.” The area is bordered in red with a larger Chief’s helmet logo at the top. The bottom of the back displays the co-sponsors of the set.
