Return to the Oddball Archive Index

Specs

Year: 1964

Title: Kahn’s Wieners

Size: 3″ x 3 5/8″

Number in Set: 53

Overview

Just as they did with their basketball set in 1964, Kahn’s printed their football released in color. They also removed their slogan (and the facsimile autograph) from the front of the card and put it on the back, which otherwise looked very similar to all the previous sets backs.

It was their 2nd largest release with 53 cards representing all 14 NFL teams, but since the company was based in Cincinnati (pre-Bengals), they included nine Cleveland Browns players.

PSA has graded 1206 1964 Kahn’s Wieners football cards, the most of any Kahn’s football set (SGC has graded 144). And the most common PSA grade is an 8.

In the Spring of 2019, Robert Edward Auctions sold a near-complete set of 1964 Kahn’s Wieners Football cards (50/53), which was ranked #3 on the PSA Set Registry at the time (8.35 GPA), for $5100. It was missing three of the biggest stars (Brown, Starr, and Unitas).
